“I have long said that the interpretation of history belongs to historians, not politicians. The case with the monument to Konev only confirms this, ”the politician wrote on Twitter.

On August 22, unidentified persons desecrated a monument to Konev in Prague, writing an insult on it with paint.

Earlier, the head of the Prague-6 district, Ondřej Kolář, said that the authorities did not intend to clean up the monument.

According to him, the monument should either be transported to Russia, or transferred to storage in a private collection.

The Russian Embassy regarded the actions of the Prague authorities as a repeated desecration of the memory of soldiers of the Red Army who fell in the fight against the fascists.
