Elon Musk, the whimsical boss of Tesla and Space X, said Thursday in China of his reluctance to new technologies during a debate on artificial intelligence, while it aims to create a direct link between the human brain and machines.

Invited to debate the future of artificial intelligence during a debate in Shanghai with Jack Ma, the emblematic boss of the Alibaba e-commerce group, Musk seemed to distance himself from technology.

"The pace of progress of computers is crazy," he said, worried that in the future machines doped with artificial intelligence may end up tired of dealing with humans "slow and stupid" .

"For lack of something else, the computer will get impatient. (For him) it will be like talking to a tree", justified Elon Musk against Jack Ma who, on the contrary, sees the artificial intelligence as " a progress".

"Computers may be smart, but humans are much more," said the Chinese multibillionaire, who is about to leave Alibaba's head. "We invented computers but I never saw a computer create a human being".

The human-machine fusion is nonetheless a very serious research topic for Elon Musk.

The businessman presented in mid-July the progress of his start-up, Neuralink, which aims to directly and intimately connect the human brain to the computer.
