"The aim is to clean our beaches from debris that would otherwise end up in the Baltic Sea," says Frida Gustafsson, Strategist for Ecological Sustainability at Kalmar Municipality.

She stands at the municipal tent on Stortorget in Kalmar during the Kalmar Sound Week and distributes garbage bags and junk items to volunteers.

When SVT asks a few calmerites whether they can think of helping and collecting garbage, most are positive. Will Andersson is interested in water and the environment but is skeptical about picking up rubbish.

- Since I never scrap myself, I don't think I should clean up for others. Everyone has to take responsibility, she says.
