Iraq announced its rejection and condemnation of the tweet of Bahrain's Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, in which he supported the recent Israeli bombardment of the Popular Mobilization sites in Iraq and other targets in Syria and Lebanon, under the pretext of self-defense.

"The Popular Mobilization stood with our armed forces, the police, the peshmerga, and the tribal fighters, to defend our land honorably and made great sacrifices to liberate the cities of Iraq and defeat the ISIS gangs," the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Al-Khalifa said in a tweet on Twitter last Monday that strikes against Iran and its arms "self-defense", against the backdrop of Israel's raid last Saturday night on what it considered "Iranian targets" in Syria.

"It is Iran that declared war on us, with its Revolutionary Guards, its Lebanese Party (Hezbollah), its Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq and its Houthi group in Yemen and elsewhere," he said. "It doesn't blame those who hit them and destroy their equipment. It's self-defense."

He pointed out that "Article 51 of Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations clearly affirms the right of States to defend themselves against any threat or aggression."

In June, the Bahraini minister said in an interview with an Israeli channel that his country's positions on Iran were "close" to Israeli positions, stressing that Tehran posed "the main threat to the stability and security of the region."

The Popular Mobilization has accused Israel of being behind the recent attacks on its positions, while the three presidencies in Iraq considered hostile action, and said it would take all measures to deter attacks on the country.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun called the Israeli attacks in Lebanon "a declaration of war."

A reconnaissance drone crashed and another exploded in the southern suburb of Beirut, Lebanon's Hezbollah stronghold, at dawn on Sunday. The following day, three explosions rocked the military headquarters of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (General Command) in the Qusaya area of Zahle district in the eastern Lebanon mountain range. Israel also announced that it launched an air strike in Syria at dawn last Saturday, and said it thwarted an operation planned by the Iranian "Qods Force" and factions loyal to him against Israeli targets.
