The conference has 350 participants and is held for two days, August 29-30. Some lectures are held at Elmia, but at Rosenlund's manor, workshops are held for the participants outdoors. The purpose of the conference is to exchange experiences and increase their knowledge. The participants are school leaders, educators, landscape architects and researchers from all over the country.

Proponents of outdoor education see many benefits of outdoor teaching. New research at Linköping University has shown, among other things, that more outdoor education has several positive effects.
Among these are improved learning with increased cognitive ability, concentration, working memory and study motivation.

The conference is held every two years by the network Utenavet.
