The rescue services had great difficulties in extinguishing a villa fire in Hamre, Hudiksvall municipality, in January 2015.

When the water was exhausted, a extinguishing foam that was legal was used, but is normally recommended only on oil fires as it contains environmentally hazardous substances.

After several years of struggle, the municipality has now appointed a consultant following a judgment in the Land and Environmental Court.

- The consultant will investigate what environmental effects it has had and look at the reasonable alternatives available to remedy the problem, says Bengt Friberg.
