"The US State Department announces the opening of an office for Venezuelan affairs, it will be led by Chargé d'Affaires James Storey," the report said.

It is noted that this institution will serve as the "US interim mission in Venezuela" and "work to restore democracy and constitutional order in this country."

Earlier, the head of the Southern Command of the US Armed Forces, Admiral Craig Foller, said that Washington did not plan a military invasion of Venezuela.

In August, U.S. President Donald Trump said he was considering a blockade against Venezuela.
