Rafael Nadal did not lag behind: World No. 2 qualified for the second round of the US Open on Tuesday by eliminating Australian John Millman (60) 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in 2:08 .

"The beginnings in a tournament are always difficult, so for a first match, it was good," said Nadal who won three times the US Open (2010, 2013 and 2017).

"I may have made more mistakes in forehand than usual," he said. He committed 19 and 9 others in reverse.

In the next round, the Spaniard will face Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis, ranked 203rd at ATP and winner of a wild card.

"He has a big forehand and a big serve, said Nadal.I will play well, otherwise it will be a very difficult match.
