Karolina Pliskova, the world's third-ranked Czech, qualified for the third round of the US Open on Wednesday by eliminating Georgian national Mariam Bolkvadze, who was 202th in qualifying, 6-1, 6-4.

Pliskova, who can hope to become N.1 worldwide after the last round of the Grand Slam 2019, will face Ons Jabeur (62) or Aliaksandra Sasnovich (46) for a place in the 8th finals. She remains in two consecutive quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows.

The opening match of the day on the court Athur-Ashe could be played under the closed roof of the enclosure, while New York is diving since the morning in the rain. The duels on court Louis-Armstrong in closed configuration, could also begin normally.

However, the matches scheduled from 11:00 (17:00 French, 15:00 GMT) on other courts had still not started at 13:30 (19:30 French, 17:30 GMT).
