October 31, 2018: 68-year-old Anne-Elisabeth Hagen disappears from her and her husband's home in Fjellhammar outside Oslo. Police suspect she was taken away in the morning or early morning. A note is found in the home where it is written in incorrectly written Norwegian that Anne-Elisabeth should be killed if the police are contacted.

Since then, neither the family nor the police have received any signs of life from her.

October 31-January 8: For ten weeks, the police work in silent collaboration with the family to find Anne-Elisabeth Hagen. The alleged perpetrators are demanding a ransom of nine million euros, which will be paid out in cryptocurrency.

January 9, 2019: The police choose to release information about the disappearance to the public and the media. The reason for having worked on the case in secret up until now is that the perpetrators presented a threat to Norwegian life if the police or the media are interfered with. February 11, 2019: Police confirm that they have had new contact with the kidnappers. A message must have been received by the police and the Hagen lawyer, but showed no sign of life.

June 26, 2019: The police announce at a press conference that they are now working on the theory that Anne-Elisabeth Hagen has been killed. The alleged kidnapping may have been a way to conceal the murder.

August 6, 2019 : The family's lawyer says that they have had contact with the suspected kidnappers, who claim that Anne-Elisabeth Hagen is alive. however, the family has received no proof that it is true.
