Due to the strained water situation in southern Gotland, the Technical Committee in 2016 decided to say no to more applications for connection of properties to the common water system.
The water shortage has been a sequel for several summers in the southern part of Gotland and the levels in the water supply have not yet recovered.
The completion of Gotland's breakwater works is now complete and is now supplying the mains with drinking water from Kvarnåkershamn to Nisseviken as well as to Hemse and Burgsvik.
The Technology Administration therefore proposes that the Technical Committee decide to cancel from 1 October the decision to stop new connections of properties.
