28 August 2019In Spain, 17 children had abnormal hair growth, the 'werewolf' syndrome, after taking a drug to treat reflux.

The Spanish authorities registered these cases in the Cantabria region, in Valencia and in Granada. According to the first findings - reports the 'BBC - the medicine was contaminated by a drug for alopecia. "My son's forehead, cheeks, arms, legs and hands were covered with hair, it was appalling," said a mother concerned about the baby's "monster" appearance.

The first cases were reported in July and the product was withdrawn from the market. The Spanish Ministry of Health explained that a batch of the medicine used to treat hair loss "was labeled for an error within the manufacturing company incorrectly and therefore confused with stomach medications".
