As police chief James Smith clarified, the man barricaded himself at about 5:30 p.m. (00:30 Moscow time), while the police found two bodies on the lawn in front of the house.
Law enforcement agencies believe that another person is also inside the house, possibly a hostage.
The identity of the man has not yet been established.
A police detachment and Arkansas and Phillips County patrol officers arrived.
