Qatar Petroleum has signed two agreements with France's Total to acquire a share of the exploration and production-sharing franchise in two offshore areas off the coast of Namibia in southwest Africa.

Under the agreements, which will be subject to the necessary regulatory approvals in Namibia and the partners' approval, Qatar Petroleum will acquire 30% of the exploration and exploration rights in the region (2913b), while Total will retain a 40% stake, in partnership with Impact Oil (20%) and Namkor. (10%).

The first exploration wells in this area will be drilled in the first half of next year.

Qatar Petroleum will also acquire 28.33% of the exploration and exploration rights in the neighboring area of ​​2912. Total will retain a 37.78% stake, in partnership with Impact Oil (18.89%) and Namkor (15%).

Saad bin Sharida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Petroleum, expressed his delight at the company's expansion in the field of exploration and exploration to Namibia, and considered that this will strengthen its presence on the African continent.

The minister said that exploring these two regions with Total "will support our efforts to achieve our strategy for international growth."
