Rapper Lil Nas X, whose hit "Old Town Road" made the United States and the whole world dance, was named Wednesday at a major US country award, a few months after being banned from the rankings of this musical genre.

"Old Town Road" which mixes a banjo and heavy bass, was a rap song with country accents.

But Billboard had decided to remove it from its sales rankings of this traditional American genre because it "did not have enough elements of the country of today".

This decision has attracted a lot of criticism, especially from people who believe that the musician was labeled as only a hip-hop artist because he was black.

With a remix inviting country legend Billy Ray Cyrus, the song has rounded the difficulty to win the record sales of all styles, without a break from the week of April 4 to August 19, a record of longevity US.

"Old Town Road" will be nominated for the "Music Event of the Year" award at this Country Music Awards ceremony.

"Thank you for this nomination !!" tweeted the artist.

The rapper also received the award for the album of the year song on Monday at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Montero Hill, the real name of Lil Nas X, also seduced by his simple personality, full of humor, not hesitating to adopt the traditional clothing of the country and the world of cowboys, jacket with fringe, boots and hat with wide brim, especially in the official clip.

The young artist pushed the world of hip-hop even further by revealing his homosexuality at the end of June.
