Swedbank writes in a press release that Henriksson will take up his new position "as soon as possible". With the appointment, he resigns as CEO of Folksam. Henriksson has previously also been CEO of the Stockholm Stock Exchange, Nasdaq OMX, and has served on the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund, the IMF in Washington.

- With Jens Henriksson, the bank gets a CEO who combines experienced leadership, strong communicative ability and broad knowledge of the banking and financial markets, says Göran Persson, Chairman of Swedbank's Board of Directors, in a press release.

- Jens has the overall expertise required to address the bank's situation based on recent criticism, the rapid technological changes and competition that characterize the banking sector today, Persson continues.

In the same press release, the new CEO says that his job as CEO of Swedbank "will be to regain confidence, develop the bank's sustainable profile and continue the successful digitization journey initiated by Swedbank".
