Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ahmed al-Maisari called on the commander of the UAE-backed security belt in Abyan province Abdul Latif al-Sayyed to inject blood and not resist government forces seeking to regain control of the rest of Abyan province.

Al-Maissari said in an audio recording that government forces would enter the city of Zanzibar, calling on the commander of the security belt forces to avoid more bloodshed.

Al-Maysari vowed to protect Abdul Latif al-Sayyed and not to compromise his forces. He said the leaders of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council planned to flee Aden by taking out weapons.

He would not leave the Master, and he would work on his future status, and he should not miss this opportunity.

This comes as the Yemeni government forces advanced and took control of a camp for the UAE-backed security belt forces in the "Qarn al-Klassi" area between the cities of Shaqra and Zanzibar without resistance.

Local sources told Al-Jazeera that the army is seeking to advance towards the city of Zanzibar, the administrative center of Abyan province, where the UAE-backed security belt reinforced its presence after bringing in military reinforcements from the city of Aden.

The sources added that the government forces - belonging to President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi - took control of the coastal city of Shaqra in the province of Abyan in southern Yemen, where the command of the Fifth Infantry Brigade stationed in the Directorate of Mudia in Abyan loyalty to the legitimate government of Yemen.

The government forces announced last Saturday to tighten their full control over Ataq and all the roads leading to it, and control of three camps where the elite Shabwani forces were stationed in the vicinity of the city.
