The young Sarah Léonie Cysique (-57kg) was beaten in her fight for a bronze medal and finished at the foot of the podium at the World Judo Championships on Tuesday in Tokyo.

Cysique, who plays her first Worlds at 21, lost to defending Olympic champion Rafaela Silva of Brazil by waza-ari.

Beaten for the first time in the quarter-finals (by Deguchi), the young judoka was then imposed by ippon against Kosovare Nora Gjakova, European Champion 2018 and European Vice-Champion two months ago, to give herself a chance to get on the third step of the podium.

In the same category, Hélène Receveaux was stopped in her second fight by the Japanese Tsukasa Yoshida, outgoing world champion.

On the third day of competition, the team of France is still chasing a first podium on the Tokyo rugs, one year from the Olympics 2020 in the Japanese capital.
