"The step is to lift all sanctions," Rouhani said in a speech broadcast live on state television.

US President Donald Trump has said he will meet his Iranian counterpart to end the standoff over Tehran's nuclear activities.

But Rouhani said in his televised address that "Tehran has never wanted to acquire nuclear weapons," adding that his country was always ready for dialogue.

The Iranian president pointed out to continue «reduce our obligations in the (nuclear) agreement concluded in 2015 if our interests are not guaranteed».

Rouhani rejected the idea of ​​meeting Trump before lifting all sanctions against Iran.

Spokesman Gholamhossein Ismaili was quoted as saying that Anousheh Ashouri, a dual national, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for "transmitting information to the Israeli Mossad."

She was also sentenced to two years in prison for receiving "illegal funds from Israel" worth 33,000 euros, according to the Iranian judiciary.
