Tiger Woods, the 15-time Grand Slam champion, said he had surgery on his left knee on Tuesday, but this surgery should not prevent him from participating, as expected, in the first race of the North American circuit. (PGA) of the 2019-2020 season, in October in Japan.

In a brief statement posted on his Twitter account, the winner of Augusta's latest Masters says he underwent surgery last week to repair "minor cartilage problems". "I look forward to traveling and playing Japan in October," he adds.

Dr. Vern Cooley, who led the operation, hopes that Woods will recover completely: "We did what was necessary and took the opportunity to control the entire knee, there is no additional problem."

The "Tiger" stressed that he had already started walking and hoped to resume training in "the next few weeks".

This is the fifth time since 1994 that Tiger Woods, aged 43, has operated on his left knee.
