The corresponding statement was made by the head of Brazil while talking with reporters when he commented on the intention of the G7 member countries to help fight forest fires in the Amazon.

“For starters, Mr. Macron should have given up his insults to me. First, he called me a liar. And secondly, as far as I am aware, he questions our sovereignty over the Amazon, ”TASS quoted Bolsonara as saying.

As the Brazilian leader pointed out, it was only after Macron’s apology that the country's authorities could consider accepting assistance from the G7 countries.

“First an apology, then an offer, and then I will answer,” concluded the head of the South American republic.

Macron said earlier that the G7 countries are ready to assist in putting out fires in the forests of the Amazon. Later, the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, invited the leaders of the G7 member states to the republic in connection with their statement on assistance to countries affected by the fires in the Amazon.
