In response to a request for an estimate of the budget for the next fiscal year, the Cabinet Office has decided to set the budget for the Okinawa promotion budget to 319 billion yen, the same amount for the third consecutive year.

The Cabinet Office held a joint subcommittee such as the Liberal Democratic Party's Okinawa Promotion Committee held on the 27th and approved the budget for the next year's budget proposal to be set at 319 billion yen.

This is 18 billion yen more than the initial budget for the current fiscal year, but the estimated amount will be the same for the third consecutive year.

Among these, the “collective grant” that local governments can decide to use voluntarily is 118.8 billion yen, which is 9.5 billion yen higher than the initial budget for this fiscal year, and public works related expenses for road and airport maintenance are the same as this fiscal year. The same 142 billion yen is included.

In addition, 8.9 billion yen will be required for establishing an international medical base in the former site of the US Army Nishi Futenma residential area, and 1.1 billion yen will be required for establishing an electrical and communications infrastructure on a remote island in Okinawa.

Over 300 billion yen has been recorded every year since the start of the second Abe administration, but the Okinawa promotion budget has continued to decrease after reaching a peak of more than 350 billion yen in 2014. It is a circle.
