Dr Jakob Maske said that a vegetarian diet (which completely abandoned food from animal sources) poses a threat to children's health.

The German pediatrician explained that the full vegetarian diet affects children malnutrition, which has serious consequences such as problems of growth and development and serious diseases.

Maske added that a healthy diet should be characterized by diversity and balance to provide the body with vitamins, minerals and nutrients, which help the body to grow and develop healthy.

He also stressed the importance of the plant mother to be aware of the need to provide her body with iron and vitamin "B12" adequately during breastfeeding to avoid malnutrition.

If parents insist that their child follow a vegetarian diet that completely abandons animal sources, then the child must undergo periodic blood tests to detect any shortage in a timely manner and to address it with the right dose of supplements.
