“G7 is a gathering of like-minded countries that positively impact the global economy. Russia's actions in Ukraine and elsewhere make it clear that it cannot be a partner in this group of like-minded countries, ”TASS quoted the prime minister.

At the same time, he noted that if the Russian leader Vladimir Putin was invited to the next summit to be held in the United States, he would not avoid talking to him.

"At world summits, I never avoided the tables that Putin was sitting at ... I had personal conversations with him, during which I argued with him Canadian fears about the whole spectrum of Russia's actions, and listened to what he told me," Trudeau added.

Earlier, the American leader Donald Trump during a press conference said that he would invite Putin to the next G7 meeting.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel noted that in order to start negotiations on Russia's participation in the G8, it is necessary to achieve progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The Kremlin emphasized that for Russia, a return to this format is not an end in itself and the country does not intend to impose its participation.

Russia has repeatedly stressed that it is not a party to the conflict in Ukraine and acts as a mediator in resolving the situation.
