The differentiated circulation, set up because of an episode of pollution with ozone, was renewed for Tuesday in the Paris metropolitan area and in the metropolis of Lille, announced Monday the Paris police prefecture and the northern prefecture. .

"The prefect of police has decided to renew the differentiated traffic on Tuesday, August 27 in Paris and in the small crown in the perimeter of the A86 not included," tweeted the police headquarters. The measure is put in place since Sunday in Paris and its small crown and concerns the perimeter inside the loop formed by the A86.

Between 5:30 and midnight, "the ozone levels remain high, only vehicles Crit'Air 0, 1 and 2 can circulate," says police headquarters.

Traffic differentiated, that is to say, reserved for certain categories of vehicles, was activated because of "high temperatures and sunshine" which favor the increase of ozone concentrations, had explained the prefecture Saturday.

The most polluting vehicles, such as petrol cars registered before the end of 2005 and diesel cars registered before the end of 2010, will not be able to circulate.

In Lille, differentiated traffic, set up Monday, was also renewed for the day Tuesday due to a persistent pollution episode, announced the northern prefecture.

The most polluting vehicles are banned from driving in 12 municipalities in the Lille metropolitan area, including Lille, Lambersart and Marcq-en-Baroeul.

Only vehicles equipped with a Crit'air vignette 0, 1, 2 and 3 or with a derogation will be allowed to circulate. However, vehicles used for carpooling purposes may circulate regardless of their sticker.
