SD has for some time threatened to vote down the Alliance's budget proposals for next year - if the party does not get through its demands. The alliance is in a controlling minority and relies on SD votes, but has opposed their demands. This in turn has provided an opening for Solidariskt Motala's proposal.
But during the vote in the municipal council, SD chose to abstain. After a long period of deliberation, the result was 26 votes to 22 in favor of the Alliance.
