The woman, who is in her 70s, has been detained since April on suspicion of the murder of her husband. The man was found dead by home care staff in the couple's apartment in Lysekil the morning of April 6 and the woman who was also there told the ambulance staff that it was she who had done so. She had also tried to take her own life without success.

Experienced mockery

During the second trial, it was time for the woman to give her picture of the incident. They had been a couple for 50 years. But after a stroke, her husband got a permanent catheter and with it came a great need for care. According to the woman, he felt scorned by the home care staff when he asked for help.

"We could not live such a life, it will only be trouble when they (the home care staff) come," the woman said in court.

"Do it properly this time"

According to her, the husband was the driving force. It was he who said when it was time and what was to be done. For the first time, in March this year, they tried to overdose on sleeping pills, but then they both survive. A month later he is offered a place at Lysekilshemmet, but he does not want to live there.

"Now it's time," he said. You have to do it properly this time. He said, you can take the knife and cut me in the wrist, so I did, says the woman.

Tasks fall apart

According to the defense, it was a mutual agreement. But the prosecutor's side says there are tasks that are falling apart. Among other things, the man must have told hospital staff that he was happy to have survived the drug overdose. In addition, the man showed signs of dementia.

- Then I mean that it is not possible to clarify what he wanted, says Chamber Prosecutor Robert Beckard to SVT News West.
