The High Court today changed the district court's ruling against the 22-year-old man who shot at a car in a courtyard at Gullvik 2016. The sentence is increased by just over one year, from 9 years and 8 months to 11 years in prison.

It was announced in a judgment today.

It has been almost three years since the shooting of madness at a courtyard at Gullvik in Malmö.

It was a warm September evening in 2016, and there were playing children in the yard and several people were out grilling. Then a high-speed car drove into the yard and crashed with a rock. Then came two mopeds with armed men and fired at least 15 shots at the car.

- It's an execution. It is also full of people in the courtyard and people are fleeing for their lives, prosecutor Neela Frisell told SVT a few months ago.

A 19-year-old man died after being hit by a gunshot wound to the head. The other three men in the car met in the legs, backs and arms, among others, but survived.

Several shots also went into an apartment where a family of children were located.

22-year-old criminal convicted of murder - received several years' sentence

After 2.5 years, the investigation was completed and a 22-year-old man, well-known in criminal circles, was charged with murder, attempted murder, serious weapons crime and causing danger to others.

Despite the man refusing a crime, the district court in Malmö sentenced him on all charges.

The sentence was 9 years and 8 months in prison.

The district court reasoned that the murder and the attempted murder corresponded to life imprisonment, but the court gave the 22-year-old a penalty discount. He was given a discount because he was 19 when the crime was committed, and partly because after the murder he was sentenced to two years in prison for other crimes.

He was also sentenced to pay a total of almost SEK 1.4 million in damages to the victims and the dead 19-year-old's family.

Prosecutor: "The penalties appear unreasonable"

Neither the 22-year-old nor the prosecutors were satisfied with the verdict. The prosecutors in the case considered that the penalties he received "appear unreasonable" and appealed the judgment to the High Court.

The 22-year-old also appealed against the sentence and wanted to be completely acquitted of the crime.
