Two knife cuts summarize the crime in the Stadsträdgården in Uppsala. According to the police, there is no connection between the two events, but two separate configurations of persons. Earlier in August, a notable assault rape occurred in the park, and a 19-year-old man is currently in custody on suspicion of the crime.

For those staying in the park during the day, when the play park, concerts in Parksnäckan, festivals or sports events at the Students' lures for socializing in the greenery adjacent to Fyrisån, criminal activities on the site can be felt remote.

But for the police, Stadsträdgården is a focus area.

- So we have had it, especially during the warm season in recent years. We notice that there are people gathering at night and we notice more concern around and in the city park. It's one of those places where we are a little more frequent than others, one of our so-called 'hot spots', ”says Lisa Sannervik.

Drug crime and abuse

- There are not so many places to stay in town, the park is a place where it is nice to gather and then this kind of events come with it as well.

These include, among other things, drug crimes and ill-treatment that occur on the spot, and both the police and the municipality work to make it safe to stay there.

- It is extra effort there and we work against all types of crime to make it a safe place where everyone can stay. The municipality has also taken many measures to make the park safer in the form of increased lighting and so on.
