Demonstrators in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan's Kashmir region, have denounced India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “Order of Zayed” after New Delhi abolished autonomy in its part of Kashmir earlier this month.

For his part, Pakistani Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid told the island that his country would respond to the UAE move.

Pakistani media reported on Sunday that Senate Speaker Sadiq Sanjrani canceled an official visit to head a parliamentary delegation to the UAE, after Abu Dhabi authorities honored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit on Saturday.

The visit of Sinjrani and the parliamentary delegation was scheduled from August 25 to 28 at the invitation of the Abu Dhabi authorities.

However, Sanjrani decided to cancel the visit, attributing this - in a press statement - to "Pakistan's support for the rights of the people of Kashmir to release from the Indian occupation," and because Islamabad "condemns the violations committed by New Delhi in Kashmir."

Abu Dhabi on Saturday awarded the Indian Prime Minister the highest medal awarded to civilian figures, at a time when the Kashmir crisis has escalated since the abolition of India on the fifth of this month, the provisions of Article 370 of its Constitution, which gives autonomy to the part controlled by the Jammu and Kashmir. The decision is expected to come into force on October 1.
