The deficit for Region Jämtland Härjedalen is growing. Recently, the governing majority decided to raise the tax by 50 cents, in order to raise money.
But as the accumulated deficit is approaching SEK 1.4 billion, large savings must also be made. Last spring it was decided that 100 posts should be withdrawn. But the proposal to save on night ambulance in Hede and Bräcke was flushed by the politicians before it was even up to the decision.
SVT Jämtland asked regional director Hans Svensson what measures are needed.
"There will be significant savings," he says. But at the same time we also have an obligation to offer good and safe care to the citizens of the county.
