According to the Guardian newspaper, Trump entered into a discussion with the leaders of the G7 countries during a joint dinner.
It is noted that the discussion led to "intense debate."
The American leader was supported only by the outgoing Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe remained neutral. The rest of the G7 leaders opposed Trump's proposal.
Earlier, the US president spoke about work on Russia's inclusion in the G7.
