Estonian Ott Tänak and his Toyota team have almost taken control Sunday morning at two special stages of the end of the Rally of Germany, the 10th round of the World Rally Championship WRC.

Almost untouchable since the opening stage on Thursday night, Tänak did not take any chances, just managing his lead over his two teammates, Britain's Kris Meeke and Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala, who score 26.9 and 42 seconds.

"It would be nice to score a few points in this afternoon's super special," said Tänak, still a loose leader in the drivers' standings after the Dhrontal special, which was held across the Moselle vineyards and won by Latvala.

A route to travel again during the "super special" that will close the rally of Germany and allow the first five to register additional points in the world championship.

Behind the trio of Toyota, the Hyundai remain in ambush for the podium, with the Spaniard Dani Sordo (16.5 seconds behind the third Latvala) and the Belgian Thierry Neuville (37.6 seconds), who won the first special day and do not despair of getting on the podium.

"It's a very complicated stage, the road is very dirty," said the Belgian, the victim the day before a puncture that ended his dreams of victory, while he was tailgating Tänak in the standings.

For Sébastien Ogier (Citroën), struggling since Friday and 8th in the provisional general classification, the days follow and look alike.

"I can not drive this car," said the Frenchman, adding "can not do anything".
