Intense day for the heads of state and government of the G7 meeting summit in Biarritz, on the Atlantic coast, in the south-west of France. French, American, Japanese, German, British, Italian and Canadian leaders discuss global economy, partnership with Africa and equalities, not to mention the great crises of the moment that shake the planet. France reports progress on the Iranian nuclear, but Donald Trump does not say the same thing this morning August 25.

With our special correspondent in Biarritz, Nicolas Falez

According to a French diplomatic source, the G7 has asked Emmanuel Macron to discuss with Iran and send him a message. Still according to France, the leaders have defined two common objectives: to prevent Tehran from acquiring the atomic weapon and prevent an escalation in the region. But in the wake, Donald Trump has heard a discordant voice: " I did not discuss this ". We knew that on this issue, it would be difficult to grant Washington's position with that of its partners. And this is apparently what we are witnessing today in Biarritz.

France is engaged in a mediation process. On the eve of the G7 on Friday, Emmanuel Macron met with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. France is among the countries that want to avoid an Iranian exit from the nuclear agreement. The United States of Donald Trump, they have withdrawn from the agreement last year and they exert maximum pressure on Tehran with economic sanctions that strangle the Iranian economy.

Sensitive subject: Russia

Another sensitive subject discussed in recent hours: Russia. The G7 countries want to strengthen dialogue and coordination with Moscow on the current crises, while believing that it is too early for Russia to return to form a new G8. It was the crisis in Ukraine that led to the exclusion of Moscow five years ago.

Finally, this morning saw a highly anticipated bilateral meeting, scrutinized: Donald Trump met for the first time with Boris Johnson. The British Prime Minister is the only newcomer to the G7 since the summit of last year. US President Donald Trump promised that after Brexit, the United Kingdom and the United States could reach a very big trade deal.

And the ladies ?

Espelette is the center of the local culture, famous for its pepper that Brigitte Macron first took these ladies, tells our special correspondent Valerie Gas . On the program: a little stroll through the streets to visit stalls of artisans: sneakers, Basque cake, pepper, of course, all with a demonstration of Basque pelota.

Direction then Cambo les Bains for the visit of the villa Arnaga of Edmond Rostand which is today a museum. Basque songs, visit of the exhibition and lunch on site are planned before the official dinner of the G7 tonight, where the wives are invited. Alongside Brigitte Macron, there is of course Melania Trump, arrived yesterday with the US President but also the wife of the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk and that of the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Missing Trudeau, Conte and Johnson and the husband of Angela Merkel. But the wives of the Australian and Chilean leaders, special guests of the G7, will join the small group today.

They will have missed the dinner between ladies at the Palace Hotel held Saturday night. But they will attend the "ocean sequence" scheduled Monday morning on the beach of the Basque coast with a demonstration of surfing champions and not champions, we insist on the Elysee, and a meeting with the children of an association protection of biodiversity. A relaxing program but still in the themes of the G7.
