It was just before 11 o'clock on Sunday evening that the alarm came on a fire in a townhouse on Segemöllegatan in Malmö. When police and rescue services arrived at the scene, it was found that a fire was on the first floor and that the house was smoke-filled.

"The fire is now extinguished," the police wrote on their website at 23.19.

Initially, the police also announced that "no persons should have been injured". However, for SVT News, SOS Alarm states that two people were taken by ambulance to hospital.

Police in the South Region now confirm this information and say that two people, an elderly couple living in the fire-affected townhouse, sustained injuries. According to the police, the man is seriously injured, the woman's injuries are judged as minor.

What kind of damage is involved, the police say that they have no idea at present.
