The explosion on Östergatan on December 28 last year caused extensive damage, including stairwells and entrances, adjacent shop windows and several cars.

Shortly thereafter, police were alerted to a traffic accident on the Österleden in Landskrona. The events turned out to be interconnected.

Two men were arrested at the scene of an accident

Outside the wreckage were objects such as electric cables, a motorcycle battery and gloves with traces of dynamite explosive. And in connection with the accident scene, dog drivers were able to track down two injured men, 24 and 29 years old and resident in Helsingborg.

In June, they were both sentenced by the Lund District Court for public perjury to three years' imprisonment each.

According to police, the oldest of them, the 29-year-old, is a leader in a criminal network in Helsingborg.

The motive court has not been able to establish any motive behind the blast on Östergatan.

Wanted to be released

The men appealed to the prison judges in hopes of being released. But instead the court of justice for Skåne and Blekinge has decided to tighten the sentence - from three to four years in prison.

The sharpening is justified by the fact that the explosive charge was heavy - an estimated two kilos heavy - and that it detonated in a densely populated area in the middle of the night when many were asleep.

The court also writes that several of the residents were adversely affected by the incident and even felt the need to move from there.

The cost of repairing the injuries amounted to SEK 1.6 million, according to Lund District Court.
