This book has been banned for risk of incitement to discrimination or hatred, according to a decree of the Ministry of the Interior.

A Wahhabi Muslim learning book for children has been banned from "sale to minors, advertising and exposure" for risk of incitement to discrimination or hatred, according to a decree of the Ministry of Education. Interior published Friday in the Official Journal.

The book "Learning Tawhid for Children" is an adapted translation into French of the writings of the Wahhabist theologian and preacher Mohammed ben Abdelwahhab. Wahhabism is a rigorous version of Sunni Islam theorized in the eighteenth century in Saudi Arabia and Tawheed refers to the dogma of "the uniqueness of God", the fusion of religion and politics. The ministerial decree, dated July 5, believes that the book "published by the publishing house Al-Haramayn, contains statements likely to incite discrimination or hatred against people not practicing Wahhabi Islam (...) and thus presents a danger for the minors who could acquire it or consult it ".

Prohibition to offer, give or sell the publication to minors

The prohibition relates to the fact of "proposing, giving or selling this publication to minors", "exposing it to public view (...) and advertising for it by way of advertising. "posters" or "by means of flyers, announcements or insertions published in the press, circular letters addressed to prospective purchasers or broadcast or televised broadcasts", details the decree.

On the back cover of the book, it says that "this book dedicated to the small Muslims is a beneficial epistle about what one should teach the child well before teaching him the Koran, so that he becomes a person accomplished on the basis of the monotheism of the original Islam ". Violation of the decree is punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros.
