It wasn't that long ago that Pewdiepie slid down on the throne as the biggest on Youtube, when the Indian record company T-series went around him in the number of followers. But Pewdiepie is still the private individual in the world that has the most followers on Youtube and he is now close to reaching the dream limit of 100 million.

- That someone who is passionate about games just like me and so many others is at the top is not only great for Sweden but for the whole world. It tells us something about where we Swedes are in the digital world, says Anton Vretander, program manager at P3 games on Sweden's radio.

"Speaks bug over gaming"

Former Gothenburg citizen 29-year-old Pewdiepie began his career on Youtube almost ten years ago by playing and at the same time commenting on his game mainly in the horror and action genre.

He has been living in the UK for over five years and in 2016 he was on Time Magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people.

- There are many people who look down on games and many adults who spew bile over gaming. But Pewdiepie, along with many other Swedes on the international digital scene, does much more for Sweden than the royal house will ever do, says Anton Vretander.

According to him, it's not the first million followers that youtubers see as the hardest to reach, but the first thousand.

- It wasn't that long ago that Pewdiepie had 50 million followers and that he is now approaching 100 million does not mean that he is twice as popular now. Without being as big as he is, he also grows faster automatically, a bit like a self-playing piano.

Finished with Nazi humor

Pewdiepie has been in windy weather several times, among other things he has been accused of joking about racism and Nazism, but he has also said in a video that he is done with Nazi humor.

- He jokes in a way that fits into a certain culture on the internet and sometimes it's taken out of context and then it gets wrong. But sometimes it's been his own fault too.

Among other things, he said the n-word in a video, how do you watch it?

- Yes, and you just don't. He should know better and take on the responsibility he should have given the position he is in.

Have you ever met him?

- No I have not. But I think he seems to be a perfectly ok person and seems to have meant it when he apologized when he crossed the border.
