At the end of July Mattias Jonsson and his friends took the boat out to sea. At night it was closed on the hook. The fish that was raised was a 335 cm long shark, or Greenland shark as it is also called.

After taking pictures and lighter documentation, the hawk cut was released back into the water.

Over 250 kilos

- It was a giant fish, so I had some feeling. But it feels very funny, says Mattias Jonsson, who started his sport fishing career as a two-year-old.

On Friday it was announced that the huge catch was approved by the Swedish Sports Fishing and Fishing Association. It is estimated that it weighs between 260 and 285 kilos. Of the approximately 30 specimens of shark type registered with the association, Mattias Jonssons is the largest.

- It will be difficult to top this in Sweden. But the next challenge may be to catch a halibut, which I will really have to struggle with. It's difficult, says Mattias Jonsson.
