An appeals court in Dubai reduced the sentence of six to three months in prison for an African driver who threatened to kill a woman of his own nationality due to a dispute over 2,500 dirhams.

According to investigations by the Dubai Public Prosecution, a 21-year-old woman opened a complaint against the 39-year-old defendant that he had sent her death threats via WhatsApp because she had asked him to pay 2,500 dirhams he had borrowed and did not return.

The victim, in the investigation of the Public Prosecution, said that she knew the accused through her brother, they work together as taxi drivers, and about seven months ago borrowed 2000 dirhams from her brother, also borrowed 2500 dirhams, and requested a period of three months to pay the amount but did not ask him to refund The amount, he remained procrastinating and swords and then declared his total rejection of the return of money and threatened to kill.

She added that she was surprised by the text messages received through the application «WhatsApp», saying that he would not keep silent if the police reported him because of money, threatening in the case of arrest that she will not be able to return to her country again or live, because he will kill her and never see her family again.

Fearful of his threats, she turned to Al Qusais Police Station and opened a communication against him. The deportation appeal but commuted the sentence to three months.

In another case, the criminal court sentenced a Gulf man to six months in prison for assaulting a Dubai policeman by arresting a police station and damaging public property, such as a bed and nets.

According to investigations carried out by the Public Prosecution, the victim (the policeman) received orders from his immediate supervisor to monitor the accused for the latter's destruction of a bed inside the detention. For 10 days, according to a medical report.

Another policeman, who attended the incident, said that the defendant threatened to harm him and his family, pointing out that he knew where he was staying, and knew all his brothers and would retaliate against him.The criminal court convicted the defendant of assault and threats, and the destruction of public property and sentenced him to imprisonment.
