The correspondent of RFI in Gabon, Yves-Laurent Goma, was banned from practicing his job as a journalist for two months. The decision taken by the High Authority of Communication was announced Thursday night. Radio France Internationale deplores this withdrawal of accreditation.

The High Authority of the Communication of Gabon announced last evening on television that our correspondent Yves-Laurent Goma is prohibited for two months to exercise his profession of journalist as of this Thursday and this for having affirmed on RFI, in an article of August 17, that " the President of the Republic had at no time risen as before to salute the troops of the army ." The High Authority denounces " inaccurate information with a malicious insinuation questioning the physical integrity of the President of the Republic Ali Bongo ".

The management of RFI deplores the withdrawal by the High Authority of Communication of the accreditation of its correspondent Yves-Laurent Goma for a period of two months. Yves-Laurent Goma has always worked in good faith. RFI is committed to freedom of information and wants his correspondent to find his work permit as soon as possible, so that he continues to cover the Gabonese news, as he has been doing continuously for 17 years.
