The Public Transport Agency of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has provided a new service to transport passengers free of charge from the Jadaf maritime transport station to the metro.

Ahmed Hashem Behroozian, Executive Director of the Public Transport Agency, told Emirates Today: “The Foundation provided the service to the customers of the station, which is an integrated station, as it is an important link between all means of mass transit land and sea, where it enables passengers to use the metro and bus stations to complete “Their routes are in different regions, which integrates the various mass transit modes.”

Behroozian pointed out that the service is available daily from 11 am to midnight, where passengers are transported by buggy vehicles similar to those used in the outdoor spaces on the hotels campus, pointing out that there is an extended pier between Al Jaddaf Maritime Transport Station and Dubai Creek Metro Station located in Its surroundings make it easy to use carts.

“The Jadaf terminal is accessible by road through the commercial crossing, while by sea it can be reached by Dubai Festival City Maritime Terminal,” Behroozian said.

Behroozian also highlighted the importance of the Dubai Festival City Maritime Terminal, which was inaugurated in its new form last May, as a model station for all planned maritime stations.

Asked why the Dubai Festival City Maritime Terminal was developed, Behroozian said: “The number of passengers rose from 42,863 in 2016 to 187,000 in 2017, and then increased by 24% to 245,000 last year.” .

Behroozian listed the most important features of the Dubai Festival City Maritime Terminal.He said that its air-conditioned building can accommodate more than 25 passengers and is considered one of the first smart stations of its kind.The technical devices in the station provide all the real-time information and schedules of the flights and weather.

Behroozian added that the station provides a smart corner on board the Dubai Ferry, the region's first floating intelligent transportation hub, in five languages.

He explained that the establishment of the terminal came in the implementation of a comprehensive plan set by the Authority to develop the maritime transport system, which is estimated to employ more than 14 million passengers annually.

55 stations by 2020

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has implemented a plan to develop the maritime transport sector, including the establishment of seven new maritime transport stations in Business Bay, the Dubai Water Canal and coastal areas, bringing the number of maritime transport stations in the emirate to 55 by 2020.
