Changing climate places new demands on mountain tourism

2019-08-23T04:35:22.653Z

A changed climate will affect mountain safety. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has mapped out what the effects can be. In the clip above, Per-Olov Wikberg from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency tells more.

It is the Swedish Mountain Safety Council within the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency that conducted a survey with 19 different experts and players in the mountain world. Everything from glacier researchers to lift facilities. The survey shows that a changed climate places new demands on both the mountain tourist, facilities and mountain rescue.

- We want to raise this issue, says Per-Olov Wikberg, coordinator at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's mountain safety council. It is important that all actors start discussing this. For example, what training the mountain rescue must have in the future.
