22 August 2019 "It is a great satisfaction and a recognition of the work carried out so far by the Bertolini coach, who shares with the Federation the will to continue the speech started and carried out with great professionalism on the development of women's football". These are the words expressed by Federal President Gabriele Gravina regarding the confirmation of Milena Bertolini as head of the National Women's Team.

The coach has renewed its contract with the FIGC for another two years and is preparing to experience the new blue season with great enthusiasm, also in light of the achievements of its team: "I am pleased to continue this path - declared Bertolini - and be still here the next two years to continue with the work started and contribute to a further growth of women's football in Italy ".

After a good ride in the French World Championship, the National team found themselves in Coverciano today to begin the journey in qualifying for the European Championship which will be held in 2021 in England. Israel and Georgia are the next opponents in the races scheduled on August 29th in Tel Aviv and September 3rd in Tbilisi.

"This new beginning has so many pitfalls - Bertolini warns - now there is a different responsibility, everyone takes it for granted that what we have done before must always be done, forgetting that it was something extraordinary because the girls went beyond their possibilities "We need to be aware that this is the beginning of a new course, a more difficult beginning than two years ago, when we first met".

The important legacy of what was done in June remains, a sporting result that has helped to promote a movement that has grown exponentially in recent months thanks to the investments and reforms implemented by the FIGC.

"Of the World Cup - the coach says - I wish I could bring many things, especially the enthusiasm that we have created in the country. I wish I could bring the great performances of the girls, the team spirit they have put in place. I would not like to bring the suffering of some of them who have not played, but have nevertheless made a great contribution ". Now we must not disperse this heritage, keeping the spotlight on women's football: "Back you do not come back, then it is clear that there will be no media vision now in the World Cup. I believe we will continue to talk about women's football, but above all in a different way: we will talk more about the performance of girls on the theme of professionalism ".
