- We will be finished with ongoing work until the end of the year. Then the plan is for us to have a break until 2025, before the next planned package of measures comes, says Johan Wesley, the Swedish Transport Administration's project manager at the Öland Bridge.

Since 2017, maintenance work has been ongoing on the Öland Bridge. The work has meant long queues and has affected both commuters and tourists. One lane has been turned off and the speed past work has been reduced to 50 kilometers per hour. The maintenance work has been done to strengthen the life of the bronze.

- There is a strategic plan for the bridge to last until 2075 and so we have to replace parts that are old and worn, says Johan Wesley.
