The United Nations has warned that the lives of three million civilians could be at risk if attacks on civilian facilities in Idlib continue, saying more than half a million people have been displaced within four months.

At a news conference in New York, UN Secretary-General's spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the UN chief condemned the continuing attacks on civilians, hospitals and schools in Idlib.

He added that the increasing attacks on Idlib could create a new wave of problems that will affect the lives of three million civilians. For displacement ten times.

Dujarric called on all parties to respect international humanitarian law and "immediately return to the agreement reached by Turkey and Russia last year," referring to the agreement to establish a de-escalation zone in Idlib during the Astana meetings.

He pointed out that the attacks that targeted Idlib on Tuesday killed three civilians and wounded 14 others, including two children, while activists said that five civilians were killed and dozens wounded Wednesday due to raids by the regime and Russia.

More than 70,000 people have been displaced from the southern countryside of Idlib this month, activists say. Many activists are forced to stay in vehicles or in open fields, activists say.

In the same context, the Association of Civil Response Coordinators in northern Syria noted that 945,992 civilians have been displaced from their villages, towns and cities in the de-escalation zone since the Sochi agreement between Turkey and Russia on September 17, 2018.

The Anatolia news agency quoted the director of the association Mohammed Hallaj that the displacement included about 40 residential areas (villages, towns and cities) in rural Idlib and Hama.

Hallaj added that since February, Russian regime and aviation forces have targeted 11 IDP camps, 30 civil defense centers, 66 health centers, 106 schools, 18 popular markets, 71 universities, two water stations, three power stations and 16 kilns.

He warned that the number of displaced people would rise to 1.5 million if the regime forces and their allies advanced to the cities of Maarat al-Nu'man, Jericho and Saraqeb in the southern countryside of Idlib.
