The accident occurred on national highway 47 between Järnforsen and Målilla. The collision must have occurred at high speed and both the motorcyclist and the moose were injured in the crash.
The Mc driver was conscious and contactable when the rescue service arrived, but was later discharged by ambulance to Västervik's hospital. It is still unclear how injured the man was.
The moose was found injured in the trench some 30 meters from the site of the accident and a hunter was taken to the site to kill it.
During the rescue work the road was closed and queues were formed on the route. At 22, the emergency services state that the road is again open for traffic.
