“About the question of yesterday’s talks and the statements made at them in favor of a united, large Europe from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. This is not only the confidence of President Macron, we hear such statements and assurances from our German colleagues, from many other European countries, ”RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.

He noted that at the moment “due to a number of subjective factors, the prospects for the formation of such a large European house are becoming more illusory, and the risks of fragmentation of this space, and fragmentation, which will threaten the loss of our common European civilization’s position in the global arena, are increasing” .

Lavrov emphasized that "responsible politicians, naturally, are interested in preventing such a development of events, in order to move towards building our common economic humanitarian space."

Earlier, after negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin at Fort Breganson, Macron posted a Facebook message in Russian in which he expressed hope for further development of relations between the two European countries.

“We believe in Europe, stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok,” he wrote.

Sergei Fedorov, a leading employee of the department of social and political studies at the Institute of Europe at the Russian Academy of Sciences, in an interview with Nation News, praised Macron's statement about the European future of Russia.
