Say goodbye to the UK lying on the sand enjoying European dishes ... The original idea of a Dutchman in view of Brexit Tuesday interested thousands of people.

Created this weekend on Facebook by Ron Toekook, the event invites participants to visit the beach in the village of Wijk aan Zee (West of the Netherlands) on October 31, the date of the divorce between London and Brussels.

On the program, say goodbye to the UK "with Dutch chips, French wine and German beers on a lounge chair".

"Eventually to welcome the boats of the sailors of Europe", added the Dutchman with humor.

In the space of a few days, Ron Toekook's event garnered nearly 7,000 participants and 52,000 interested people.

The Dutch, active in the media world, did not expect such a craze.

"It must be a nice goodbye to a good friend who is embarking on an exciting adventure, but perhaps not very smart," he told the Dutch press agency ANP.

As the British culture is important in the Netherlands, it seems normal to organize a friendly and fun party on the occasion of the UK's exit from the European Union, Ron Toekook told the PNA.

Depending on the interest, a band may play the songs "We'll meet again" or "Het is stil aan de overkant". it specifies in the description of the event.

The Dutch humor with regard to the Brexit was already noticed last year, with the unlikely boys band Breunion Boys and their single "Britain Come Back" (Great Britain, come back).

Comparing the departure of the British to a breakup, the five singers asked London to reconsider its decision, chanting words like "it's not too late to turn around" and "promised, we can change."

The United Kingdom is a key economic partner for the Netherlands, which has taken a series of steps to prepare for Brexit.
