Together with colleague Jenny Klingstam, Marie Wiberg has set in motion the Facebook group and the protest movement The Underbelly Uprising. They are both experienced, with 26 and 31 years of professional experience, and still engaged. But the conditions for doing a good job have gradually deteriorated.

- Maybe we've just been lucky enough to have the energy, because we have work mates who get sick from the stress. Many are worn in the shoulders and knees. Neither can the younger colleagues cope, says Jenny Klingstam.

City grants were wound up

Yet their particular workplace, Hälleborg's elderly living in Västerås, is modern and well-functioning. But there, as in other elderly homes around the country, resources are scarce. The drop was when the targeted state grant for increased staffing in the elderly care was discontinued.

- We felt it was enough now that we wanted to get people to react. For this, everyone touches. Everyone has a relative who needs or will need elderly care, says Jenny Klingstam.

On Thursday, they hand over 14,500 signatures to Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S), demanding improved working conditions. In addition, with the support of the Municipal, events are held in Stockholm, Jönköping, Tingsryd, Skurup, Tranås, Borlänge and Mariestad.

Valued higher

The insurgency demands that the state inject more money, so that staffing can increase. Higher staffing density would also reduce stress.

- If one of the old people gets sick or gets hurt, we naturally prioritize this. But the consequence is that the next shift must take over what is not done. They have to work twice, says Marie Wiberg.

- We do everything - cleaning, ordering goods, washing and tablecloths - the way we think other staff could do so we could give the sick more time, Jenny Klingstam fills in.

Therefore, their requirement is also that the undersea church be refined and upgraded.
